Our Approach

Our approach is centered on making life easier for families by providing outstanding child care and early learning.

Tailored Care and Learning

Great care begins with an understanding of the individual needs and mannerisms of your child(ren) and family. As their primary caregiver, you know them best.

We listen, learn, and exchange information with you every day so that we're always aligned and providing the best possible care for your child(ren).

Mighty Learners

We subscribe to the belief that children are mighty learners – capable, resilient, and resourceful. Accordingly, each child is listened to, treated with respect, and participates in daily decisions that affect him or her.

This occurs through educators adopting a perspective of 'doing with' rather than 'doing to' so that they pick up on the interests and emerging passions of your mighty learner and adjust activities to suit.

Learning Through Fun

We value learning through play, and follow a ‘cue-based’ approach to curriculum development (also known as 'interest-based' or 'child-led'). Children participate in 'free play' and pre-planned activities, all of which are guided by educators who observe, adapt, and adjust activities based on the interests of children as individuals and as a group.

By connecting learning with fun, this approach helps develop independence, creativity, and wonder, which helps build an enthusiasm for lifelong learning.

Environments that enable

Our indoor and outdoor environments are safe, stimulating, fun, and encourage exploring and learning. We pair well laid-out rooms and outdoor space with carefully selected toys and materials to enable fun and learning.

We greatly value playing outdoors and connecting to the natural world, as this is one of the best places for a young mind to be free and happy while exploring. We encourage exploring safe, natural spaces all year round where children can enjoy wonder, possibility, and challenge.

Building community

Community has a profound effect on a child’s sense of identity, belonging, and connection to society.

A child’s sense of community is limited but growing every day. In the early years it may include only their family, their home, and perhaps a general sense there is a bigger world (even if they have only seen it backwards from their rear-facing car seat).

We believe it’s important to build community in their class, within the centre as a whole, and begin to introduce them to the broader world.

Nutrition

Children are always on the go and need proper nutrition to grow healthy bodies and minds. We follow the Canada Food Guide to provide children with lunch and snacks that meet their daily nutritional requirements.

Our meals are fresh, yummy and made in-house. Meals are served family style to help children build a healthy relationship with food, develop independence, and encourage choice.

Educators & Staff

Our team is foundational to our approach as we believe the bond between children and their educators is key. It builds comfort, a sense of security, and in turn builds self-esteem and a confidence for mighty learners to freely and happily explore their world.

In addition to having the proper qualifications and experience, our team must have the right outlook and a passion for early learning. We know this means creating a great workplace and treating staff well – a commitment we take seriously.
